Computer And Technology

The Computer Technology (CT) program has been developed to provide training in the principles underlying the design of modern computer systems. Computers can be understood in 4 areas: hardware (a focus on the basic electronic building blocks), management (administration of databases or networked computers), maintenance (diagnosis and repair of personal computers) and software (the programming and computer science needed to control the hardware). Those interested in a career in computers or information technology can pursue a B.A or B.S in computer technology. Find out what courses are offered in these programs as well as career and continuing ed options after graduation.

Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions. In TSTC’s Computer Maintenance Technology, you’ll learn to perform diagnostics, repair and maintain systems, conduct installations and replacements, and more. … Read more

Computers & Technology

Computers and those professionals that maintain, troubleshoot, program, administer, network, and build them are central to most every industry. Modeled after the Cambridge University EDSAC computer, the president of Lyons Tea Co. has the LEO built to solve the problem of production scheduling and delivery of cakes to the hundreds of Lyons tea shops around England. After the success of the first LEO, Lyons went into business manufacturing computers to meet the growing need for data processing systems in business. The LEO was England’s first commercial computer and was performing useful work before any other commercial computer system in the world.

With a two- or four-year IT degree, graduates can find work in a number of occupations, including information security, network architecture, database administration, systems administration and computer support. However, some of these jobs require advanced computer science and programming knowledge, so graduates must enroll in specialized programs or take … Read more

Applied Computer Technology AAS Degree

The Computer Technology (CT) program has been developed to provide training in the principles underlying the design of modern computer systems. The evolution of digital computing is often divided into generations. Each generation is characterized by dramatic improvements over the previous generation in the technology used to build computers, the internal organization of computer systems, and programming languages. Although not usually associated with computer generations, there has been a steady improvement in algorithms, including algorithms used in computational science. The following history has been organized using these widely recognized generations as mileposts.

As new technologies continue to emerge, the need for computer programmers continues to grow as well. If you have a knack for the language of computers, then a degree in computer programming may be perfect for you. Whether you’re an avid gamer looking to develop the next big video game, or you’d like to become an expert software … Read more
