Information technology (IT) is the use of computers to store, retrieve, transmit, and manipulate data, or information, often in the context of a business or other enterprise. To sum it up (and maybe oversimplify a bit), computer engineers design and build computers. Computer scientists design and develop computer programs, software, and applications. IT professionals then use and troubleshoot those programs, software, and applications. These three professions all work together to make sure hardware, software, and user interface (UI) come together smoothly so that computers can carry out the tasks businesses and individuals need from them.
