With advances in technology, demand for computer engineering specialists is high. At the 2006 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) announces it will create a program to deliver technology and resources to targeted schools in the least developed countries. The project became the One Laptop per Child Consortium (OLPC) founded by Nicholas Negroponte, the founder of MIT’s Media Lab. The first offering to the public required the buyer to purchase one to be given to a child in the developing world as a condition of acquiring a machine for themselves. By 2011, over 2.4 million laptops had been shipped.
This unit provides a practical and theoretical overview of programming for computer games, games design, industries and audiences. Students will learn how to critically evaluate current debates in games design and apply practical production skills. Includes industries and gaming cultures, narrative and storytelling in games, alternative and serious games, design strategies, game rules and prototyping, the architecture of a computer game, game flow and logic, user interaction, device input and game state feedback, 2D and 3D game environments, game characters, animation, sound, scene control and scripting, introduction to game physics, introduction to artificial intelligence for games, controlling behaviour of non-player characters, chasing and evading, simple pathfinding.
Video game designers , multimedia artists, and animators create animation and visual effects for television, movies, video games, and other forms of media. Develop high-level programming and computer engineering skills that translate directly to the workplace and are in high demand among employers. During second year Technology you can apply to join paid co-op work terms. Three terms will qualify you for a co-op Technology diploma.
One of the first commercially produced computers, the companyÂ´s first customer was the US Navy. The 1101, designed by ERA but built by Remington-Rand, was intended for high-speed computing and stored 1 million bits on its magnetic drum, one of the earliest magnetic storage devices and a technology which ERA had done much to perfect in its own laboratories. Many of the 1101’s basic architectural details were used again in later Remington-Rand computers until the 1960s.
No grade lower than a Câ€ will be accepted on transfer from another institution to satisfy the graduation requirements in Information Technology. Where specific grade requirements are not specified, no CSUN grade lower than a C-â€ will be accepted for courses required in the B.S. CIT program. Foundational technology skills are offered in first year. At the end of the year, students work in teams using agile development mirroring what happens in industry.
