Get the hands-on, problem-solving skills needed to get started in a variety of computer fields. Students with a robotics degree are prepared for mechanical design, controls, electronics, digital logic design, embedded systems programming, machine vision, and adaptive algorithm development and design of autonomous robotic systems. The more math students have before entering this mechanical engineering degree program, the greater their opportunities to explore this discipline in depth.
Approximately two-thirds of the curriculum consists of courses in systems programming, software development, testing and maintenance. The balance of the curriculum consists of courses in technical communications skills (both oral and written), mathematics and general education electives. B.S. CIT majors follow a modified General Education program, depending upon the year they enter the program and their enrollment status as a college student. Returning and transfer students should consult an academic advisor before planning their general education programs. B.S. CIT students are required to take courses in the following GE sections: Analytical Reading and Expository Writing (3 units), Oral Communication (3 units), Social Sciences (6 units), Arts and Humanities (6 units), Comparative Cultural Studies (6 units), and U.S. Government and History (6 units). Nine units of the GE requirements must be upper division (300-plus) courses that are certified as writing intensive. Two GE courses must meet the Information Competence requirement. All other GE requirements are met through completion of courses in the major. All students should discuss Plan R requirements and plan class schedules with theirÂ academic advisor.
Computer Information Technology (CIT) is a unique program that aims to train students to be technical experts in various computing technologies including database, network administration, web technology, and security. Graduates will be IT specialists responsible for planning, deployment, administration, and configuration of computing infrastructures for organizations.
