American Journal of Computer Science and Information Technology (AJCSIT) is an intercontinental free access, peer reviewed journal. The first practical stored-program computer to provide a regular computing service, EDSAC is built at Cambridge University using vacuum tubes and mercury delay lines for memory. The EDSAC project was led by Cambridge professor and director of the Cambridge Computation Laboratory, Maurice Wilkes. Wilkes’ ideas grew out of the Moore School lectures he had attended three years earlier. One major advance in programming was Wilkes’ use of a library of short programs, called subroutines,” stored on punched paper tapes and used for performing common repetitive calculations within a lager program.
In addition to the new tech skills you’ll develop, you’ll also benefit from learning the basics of logic, design and engineering. A good foundation in these disciplines won’t just help you write code and de-bug software – they’ll help you in other areas of your life and studies, too. Cloud computing refers to the storing and accessing of data and programs over the Internet instead of on another type of hard drive. Examples of Cloud services include iCloud, Google Cloud and Dropbox.
While IT and CS degrees can lead to similar jobs, the differences between the two are quite pronounced. IT professionals should enjoy installing computer systems, using software and maintaining networks and databases, while computer scientists should enjoy mathematics and software design. In general, the relationship between information technology and computer science is quite close and interdependent.
Embry-Riddle’s computer-related degree programs are designed to ensure that graduates possess the knowledge and the skills that will make them standouts in the job market and in their careers. In your final year you will undertake a substantial games project in addition to advanced units in 3D graphics, game physics and games development. Optional units include advanced games design, software agents and optimization or character animation techniques.
Completion of an appropriate minor at CSUN that does not include courses offered by the Department of Computer Science or the College of Business and Economics. The intent of the minor is to focus studies in a domain in which the graduate plans to start their career. Students interested in focusing their studies on business are advised to explore the Information Systems degree options offered by the Department of Accounting and Information Systems. A minor must consist of at least 18 units, but some requirements in a minor might also be applied toward meeting General Education requirements.
